Overview

The Safety and Reliability Society’s Asia-Pacific Branch will be presenting its second webinar on 6th July at 15:00 Hong Kong time, 17:00 Melbourne time and 08:00 UK time.

Presenter Nelson Ng, Chief of Operations Engineering at MTR Corporation in Hong Kong, will share his safety leadership experience from the perspective of a system assurance engineer for new railway lines and retrofit projects, enterprise and safety manager, general manager for constructing a new railway line in Mainland China and then the engineering head for an operating railway network.

The webinar will include:-

  • the application of System Safety Model / FMECA/ RCM / Human Factors Wheel/ Safety Case/ ALARP/ HAZOP/ Risk Matrix/Hazard Log in the asset life cycle,
  • examples of safety engineered solutions to prevent safety incidents covering Platform Screen Door/Automatic Platform Gate retrofit, manual train operations and vehicle intrusion; etc.,
  • development of competent system assurance and railway design professionals through the Yellow Book/iESM and IRSE certification scheme
  • the challenges and opportunities of applying digital technology to create safer work procedures, shape safe behaviours and enable predictive safety and asset management for railway construction and operations.
