Unlocking Future Applications of Hydrogen for a Low Carbon Economy
IMechE live online seminar
Overview
Following the commitment from Government to legislate for net-zero emissions by 2050, hydrogen is slated to play a role in the reduction of emissions from power, transport, and industrial sectors.
This seminar will look to address hydrogen’s role in low-carbon energy systems and the engineering challenges of replacing natural gas in the gas distribution network with hydrogen to reduce carbon emissions.
Hydrogen can be an extremely useful part of the energy mix, but engineers need to understand the inherent challenges and potential of the technologies before they can be used more widely in a net-zero future energy economy.
Confirmed seminar speakers include:
- David Shirres, Editor, Rail Engineer
- Guto Owen, Director, Ynni Glan
- Bill Ireland, Chief Executive, Logan Energy
- Mike Muldoon, Head of Business Development, Alstom UK & Ireland
- Jeppe Grue, Technical Director, Bioenergy and Thermal Power, COWI
- Keith Owen, Head of Systems Development and Energy Strategy, Northern Gas Networks
- Penny Atkins, Principal Research Fellow, University of Brighton
